February Updates
Hello Super Snipers! 2022 is in full swing as is the campaign to bring Super Snipers to Kickstarter this September. Here are some of the updates:
Hwa is hard at work updating art assets so that we can order an updated prototype from the Game Crafter in March. I cannot wait to see how the Scope Boards come out and for everyone to see the updated art for the Locate and Target Grids!
I’ve been testing the game with a new feature called LOS (Line of Sight). This creates a 3 piece row of Focus (polyominoes) so that you can always see what the next two pieces coming up are. This solves the issue of the game feeling a little too luck-dependent as now you can plan around what is coming up next instead of being at the mercy of the draw. Speaking of draw, this also addresses an issue brought up by a few playtesters: the concern that players will purposefully or inadvertently feel for the piece they need. Thinking 3 turns ahead about the piece you will need should be challenging enough to keep this from being an issue. Lastly, having the LOS opens up new design space….
The Move Bonus was the most underutilized Bonus and I’ve come up with a variant on it that also introduces player interaction into the game; something that I’ve heard requested from a number of playtesters. Now, Move allows you to take a Focus from an opponent’s LOS and place it at the head of yours. While this is great for getting the Focus you need, it is even better for messing up your opponent’s plans and gives you a reason to pay attention to their side of the game. Don’t worry multiplayer solitaire fans, I plan on having a 2-sided reference card that allows players to play with this or with just the original Move Bonus.
I’ve returned the Adrenaline to going to a player whenever they are shot (and put two in the game for when there’s a double kill). Additionally, Adrenaline powers are now additive instead of switched out for the base power.
Up to now, the loser of a round got all the good stuff. I’m testing out a new feature that also rewards the winner (if winning isn’t enough of a reward for you) with a one time use token that can rearrange the LOS.
Lots of other small tweaks with player powers and the AI for the solo modes.
What do you think? I would love to hear from you in our Facebook Group, our Discord, or by email. And we always need playtesters!
Galen.
